Mobile Video Gaming Soars Among Kids & Teens

For years, video games were considered kids stuff.  As video gamers started to grow up, developers kept them interested with titles targeted towards them and then social gaming expanded the target audience even more.  You might think that the kids video game market might be saturated, but it’s not. Currently 91% of kids & teens play video games and that number has risen 11% since 2009. It looks like mobile video games are the next big thing with kids & teens

  • From 2009 to 2011, the number of kids &
teens playing mobile video games has jumped 30%
  • Currently nearly 40% of kids & teens are
    playing mobile video games
  • 15% of kids under 11 own a mobile phone
  • By 2015, it’s estimated that 22% of kids under
11 will own a smart phone
  • One in three generation Y moms have given their
children  access to a mobile device before the child is 2
