Mobile Gaming Set To Surge

Mobile games are nothing new.  In some ways, mobile gaming has been happening for close to decades.  It could probably be argued that the hand-held Techmo Bowl that kept me occupied on cross country trips was the first wave of mobile games.  While it doesn’t hold a candle to the tablet and smart phones games available today, that Techmo Bowl game kept my parents sanity intact on those long summer drives.  Today’s mobile games point to something your business can do to create additional engagement with consumers.

Real-Money-Prizes-for-Mobile-Games• Over 125 million US consumers play mobile games.  That equals over half of smart phone users and
almost 40% of the total population

• Year over year the number of mobile phone users has grown by nearly 20%

• Next year, it is estimated that the number of mobile gamers will grow to over 144 million people and approach 60% of smart phone users

• By 2017 it is estimated that over 190 million US adults will be playing mobile games – growing 52% from this year

• That equates to nearly 75% of smart phone owners and close to 60% of the population

What Does This Mean To You?

Many mobile games offer advertising and product placement opportunities.  If a game is targeted towards your particular customer base and can be accessed through your mobile site – it could be a great engagement tool.  Be sure to make to integrate social media and sharing function to increase the possibility of it becoming viral.
One other thing to investigate is the gaming experience and assimilation of them into your web and social presences. I’m talking about Gamification (buzz word alert!)
By creating a social hierarchy, badge opportunities and rewards for things like creating reviews, content sharing and social evangelism, you can develop heighten engagement with your brand. The more affinity you can create the better. Some of the rewards you can give could be virtual and other s could have a physical value – such as a product discount.  For more information on how to increase engagement, please contact:
